Pinterest Challenge
Thank you for joining me today for our monthly Pinterest Challenge series. My friend Cindy at Country Road 407 hosts the monthly series. Susy at Worthington Court Blog provided today’s inspirational photo.
Each participant will use the inspirational photo to help create their own version of a patriotic summer porch. If you are joining me from Christy at Our Southern Home, I know you enjoyed her patriotic summer porch ideas.
Rustic Red, White & Blue Decorations Inspiration Basics
First, I begin by determining the basic decorations used on the inspiration porch. I always look for ways to recreate the look without spending any money. Fortunately, I have wicker furniture and blue cushions in our seating area on the front porch. The pastel rug is a handpainted DIY project and works perfectly with the rustic style.
Beside the vintage wicker chairs is a wicker swing decorated with red, white, and blue pillows and a red and white plaid throw blanket. I pull out as many red, white, and blue decorations as possible. They don’t have to be patriotic to make your porch look festive.
I moved the indoor blue throw blanket to the porch for summer. Paired with a patriotic pillow, it adds a patriotic vibe. We love surrounding our front doors with rustic wooden rockers and DIY galvanized planters. This year’s rustic red, white, and blue wreaths make a statement against the DIY door shutters.
Rustic Summer Porch Decorations
Many of the rustic summer porch decorations can be used year-round. The coffee table is decorated with a vintage-inspired scoop basket that’s perfect for creating fun rustic vignettes.
I filled a vintage sap bucket, and a basket with red anemone stems. Moss and blue and white decorative balls surround the rustic woodland duck sculpture.
A white bow and a patriotic wooden star complete the patriotic coffee table vignette.
A metal cloche draws attention to the American flags held in place with a vintage flower frog.
Adding Patriotic Red, White, & Blue Decorations
It’s easy to transform your existing porch decorations by adding a few patriotic red, white, and blue touches. Rudy welcomes guests to the front porch with red and blue throw blankets, American flags in the planters, and DIY wreaths beside the doors. Tuck in a few red flowers mixed with greenery and a perfectly rustic, welcoming entry.
Can you believe the Moss wreaths flanking the French doors are made with DIY pinecone flowers? They wreath is designed so that once the 4th of July holiday ends, the flowers can be replaced with other colors.
The flag pillow is actually reversible and is an easy, no-sew DIY project using Dollar Tree bandanas.
Add a few flags to an existing basket arrangement for an instant summer porch decoration update.
Finishing Touches
Add handcrafted spindle flags to an ironstone pitcher for more patriotic vintage charm. They provide a charming porch table vignette with a red lantern and natural greenery.
If you want to keep the lighting subdued, add dimmable string lights around the porch edge. For more patriotic touches, I added a USA pillow and a DIY star garland to the porch swing. This area is a cozy spot to relax at the end of the day.
Small touches like using blue planters and stacks of blue and red books are budget-friendly options for red, white, and blue decorations.
I hope you enjoyed today’s Rustic Red, White, And Blue Summer Porch Decoration Ideas.
