Sweet Potato Bake Recipe
Traditionally, a sweet potato dish is primarily potatoes tossed with various ingredients and baked in a baking dish.
Today’s version has a sweet and salty twist with the addition of a caramel sauce that is quick and easy to make. In addition, the dish is topped with sea salt.
The combination is perfect for a fall side dish and will quickly become a family favorite.
Bake Sweet Potatoes
Begin by washing the potatoes thoroughly and dry them.
Then, dice them into medium chunks and toss them with a small amount of olive oil. I prefer to leave the potato skin; however, you can peel the potatoes if you prefer.
Place the diced potatoes into a baking dish and cover with aluminum foil.
Bake for 45 minutes at 400 degrees.
Caramel With Sea Salt
Just before the potatoes are done cooking, add ingredients for the caramel sauce in a small saucepan.
Stir continuously until the ingredients have melted and are smooth. You do not need to bring it to a boil.
Add Caramel Sauce
Next, remove the sweet potato bake from the oven and spoon the caramel sauce over the top evenly.
Cover the tops of the potatoes thoroughly.
Finally, sprinkle generously with coarse ground sea salt using a grinder.
Return to the oven and cook for another 15 minutes or until the glaze sets.
Sweet Potato Bake Topped with Caramel with Sea Salt
Now, you are ready to serve your sweet and salty side dish. You can add additional sea salt if you desire.
The sweet and salty potatoes are delicious served with a roast and vegetables. You will find this dish is a delicious side for any fall gathering. It’s also a Thanksgiving favorite.
