Why It’s Okay To Decorate With White Milk Glass In Fall
As summer ends and September rolls around, we start to put away our summer whites and bright colors to celebrate fall. However, if you’re a woods and whites fan, you will love mixing those rustic brown, yellow, and orange colors with whites. Although you may hesitate to use white after Labor Day, you will be amazed at how stylish and on-trend your white milk glass decor can look! LOL.
Let’s take a look at why milk glass is so popular and how you can create stunning milk glass displays around your home this fall.
Why Is Vintage Milk Glass So Popular
White Milk Glass is a classic and never goes out of style. Because white lacks color, it is the most versatile color, making it the perfect decor choice to blend with any style.
- Milk Glass is timeless and works in any decor style, from rustic to modern.
- White Milk Glass is simple yet elegant.
- It is seasonless, meaning it can be used to decorate your home year-round.
- Milk Glass is more readily available than some antique and vintage decor. You can find pieces in thrift stores, yard sales, and antique shops.
- It is reasonably priced in most instances. I’ve found vases for 25 cents at thrift stores.
How To Decorate With White Milk Glass After Labor Day!
As with any season, I enjoy creating milk glass displays and filling shelves with my vintage and thrifted finds when decorating for fall. Today, I’ll share some of my favorite milk glass centerpiece ideas for dining tables and coffee tables. In addition, you see milk glass decor scattered throughout every room in my home.
White Milk Glass Bud Vases
I like to use my many white milk glass bud vases throughout the farmhouse. They are a perfect addition to a milk glass centerpiece or countertop display and, mixed with your fall decor, a stunning contrast.
Decorate a Mantel With Milk Glass
I love decorating our mantel each season, and adding dried flowers from earlier in the summer is a budget-friendly fall decorating idea. A trio of vintage milk glass makes a cozy vignette with vintage books, dried flowers, pumpkins, and a pheasant.
To decorate the other end of the fall mantel, I used a larger flower vase with a vintage bud vase filled with dried dried.
How To Create Milk Glass Centerpieces
I have created several milk glass centerpieces for fall. Let’s begin at the dining room table.
Dining Table Fall Centerpiece Ideas
I couldn’t resist creating a centerpiece using vintage milk glass cake stands. Combining two stands adds height to the center of the table. Then, just fill them with pumpkins, a fall mini-wreath, vintage bird salt and pepper shakers, and a white milk glass bud vase used as a candle holder.
I updated the hanging plate wall for fall and added fall stems for a cozy backdrop. I also couldn’t resist creating a table setting with vintage and thrift store finds. You can use bud vases and vintage brass candlestick holders to hold fall candles in a variety of heights and colors.
If you prefer a simple arrangement, you can combine a tall vase with the smaller bud vases for a less cluttered fall table centerpiece.
Screened Porch Table Centerpiece
Last year, I decorated the screen porch table with a combination of rustic and elegant milk glass. I anchoed the fall table centerpiece with a thrifted wooden tray and includes three pieces of vintage milk glass.
The old book page paper rose, and Dollar Tree pumpkin craft add a rustic touch to the centerpiece.
Coffee Table Centerpiece For Fall
Also on the screened porch is this cozy coffee table centerpiece idea. This vignette includes a milk glass cake stand and a compote under glass cloches.
More rustic old book page Dollar Tree pumpkins combine with fall stems and a single white milk glass bud vase for this stunning vignette. Next, let’s move back inside to see what the kitchen looks like decorated with milk glass.
How To Decorate The Kitchen With Vintage Milk Glass For Fall
The kitchen is another area where adding vintage milk glass helps brighten as we pull out the fall decor. The open shelves are perfect for popping in a few pieces of white milk glass. Just two pieces help make the brown and rust colors pop against the brick backsplash.
I recently found some faux golden pears at a thrift store and used them to fill a small fruit bowl. In addition, a tall vase is filled with faux fall stems. Dried flowers and okra pods give the shelf vignette a rustic fall ambiance.
Kitchen Countertops
Add more milk glass to make your kitchen countertops pop for fall. You can add simple items like this small vase filled with dried stems, and a milk glass candle holder. The candle holder is flipped upside down and is holding a Returning Grace signature candle. I love using the white milk glass with the vintage amber bottles.

Milk Glass Decor in the Bedroom
I usually have several pieces of vintage milk glass decor in our bedroom. This year, I added several pieces to the mantel shelf above our bed. A combination of candleholders, candy dish, and compote hold napkin decoupage pumpkins. A single white milk glass bud vase holds dried flower stems.
The milk glass display carries over the bedside chest, with a vase of old book page roses tucked into a vintage basket. The tall hobnail vase, which cost only a dollar at a flea market, looks stunning when filled with fall stems. The combination of the new DIY pleated fabric lampshade and DIY earthenware lamp is cozy and warm.
Bathroom Milk Glass Display
Right next door, the cozy feel continues into the bathroom, where a hobnail vase holds makeup brushes and another white milk glass bud vase holds dried flowers.
In Conclusion
As you can see, vintage milk glass is a versatile and timeless addition to your home decor. You can use it year-round to create stunning centerpieces and vignettes in any room. You can tweak many of these fall milk glass decorating ideas to work for the holidays, winter, spring, and summer. Just let your creativity flow. Love your milk glass in your, fall decor. I don't have milk glass but am using my white ironstone with copper and other fall pieces. I Leave out the ironstone all year and just change the accent pieces for each season It is a so much easier and relaxing method than I used to do when I was younger. 😀
