Rustic Fall Mantel Decorations
As I was planning this year’s fall mantel decorations, I had several ideas, and I decided to take you along as I tried each idea. You can be the judge of which you like best.
As the old saying goes, “one thing leads to another,” and that’s the story behind this year’s rustic fall mantel ideas.
Rustic Mantel With Milk Glass
When I first began to decorate for fall, I created a rustic fall mantel with milk glass. The combination of fall colors and white milk glass has a pleasing aesthetic and the mantel came together quickly.
I used a fall mantel garland that I had previously used on my porch and added a few milk glass vases filled with fall stems.
A few pumpkins and the mantel looked pretty for fall. But if you know me, things get moved around as the season progresses, and before you can blink, I’ve decided to use the garland elsewhere. LOL
A Thrift Store Makeover
In the meantime, I found the great 90s-style vases at the thrift store. I updated them and decided they would be great on the mantel for fall. But what should I put in them? The solution was these DIY Primitive Pumpkin Topiaries.
Once I had the topiaries in place, I began to look for a fall mantel garland that would look good with the topiaries. Since the topiaries have touches of old book pages, I couldn’t resist making a leaf garland to match. I shared the details for the old book page leaf garland a few days ago.
In addition to the topiaries and garland, I added a small dough bowl filled with architectural pieces and a vintage thrifted pheasant.
In addition, a few old books help to elevate the topiaries, and two LED lamps complete this version of my fall mantel decorations.
More Rustic Fall Mantel Ideas
Because I love to move things around, and this is my first fall decorating our DIY mantel, I decided to try a few other rustic fall mantel ideas.
Rustic Village Mantel Decorations
Another DIY project was this scrap wood village we made in the Spring. It has been on my screen porch all summer but I decided to try it on the mantel.
I thought it looked great with the topiaries and the rustic fall mantel garland, but Brad said it covered the TV. So, the village went back to the porch. Gotta choose your battles. LOL
Fall Mantel with Dried Gourds
For this rustic fall mantel idea, I removed all the topiaries and filled the dough bowl with dried grouds. In addition, I added two larger ones on the floor in front of the fireplace.
I like the gourds with the DIY old book page leaf garland. They add a real rustic feel to the shabby chic mantel.
Which was your favorite? I finally settled on one of these mantels, and hopefully it will last until I begin my Christmas decorating. I’ll be sharing my Fall Home Tour next week and you’ll get to see which fall mantel decorations made the cut. In the meantime, here are some related articles for the project used in these rustic fall mantel ideas.

Rachel, The mantels are all great but I really like the one with the milk glass. Guess I'm a traditionalist and love the rich colors of autumn Your garland and branches of foliage and dried flowers just make your home look warm and cozy.
