Gift of Time & Creativity: Build a Free Friendship Basket

If you’d like to show someone you care this Easter, how about creating a Friendship Basket? Instead of spending a lot of money, instead share your creativity and add items already own. Here are a few ideas that I came up with to build a free Friendship Easter Baskets! We all probably know someone who could use cheering up. I hope these ideas will inspire you to share what you have available to make someone else feel special.

Y’all, it’s been close to 20 years since I put together an Easter Basket! So when I was invited to join a group to share Easter Basket idea’s, I was not exactly excited about the prospect. But the more I thought about it, the more excited I became. The challenge to create a basket that didn’t really cost anything really sparked my creative mind.

DIY Ideas for Friendship Easter Basket

I love to collect baskets from thrift stores, so I have an abundance of baskets to choose from. If you don’t have baskets on hand, you can use any container that you wish. Things like a mixing bowl, a tin can, a tray, etc. The list is endless. Be creative and think outside the box or basket in this case! LOL. However, what would I put into the baskets????? So, I first began with a couple of quick and easy DIY projects that can be completed without going to the store.

DIY Old Book Page Decoupage Easter Eggs

First, I gathered a few of the decoupage Easter Eggs covered with old book pages that are wrapped with twine. I’ve made several over the years, and it’s time to share the love.

Cute Carrots for an Easter Basket

I also had some DIY Easter Carrots that were tied together with a cute, simple ribbon. I made them several years ago, and they will make a cute addition to the basket.

Here’s a quick tutorial if you’d like to make a few. Otherwise, consider stopping by Dollar Tree. You can get six for $1.25.

The carrots are easy to make.

  1. Begin by rolling card stock into a small cone.
  2. Next start wrapping the jute twine around the cone and securing it with hot glue.
  3. Finally, add a drop of hot glue to the top of the cone and add green twine or raffia.
  4. Tie together or display individually.

Gather Items For The Reading Enthusiast On Your List

Above are the items I decided would go into a basket for someone who likes to read. I have several books that I’ve already read. Why not share them with someone else?

By the way, have you read KariAnne Woods’s books? I’ve read “So Close to Amazing” so many times I can quote it. So, I decided I should pass it on to someone else.

Also, I still collect quite a few magazines that I’ve already read. So I could share those as well.

And finally, I collected several moss bunnies for my Easter Tablescape last year. This year, I didn’t use all of them, so I could spare a bunny or 4. LOL

I also have excess greenery and small soaps that I keep on hand for hostess gifts, etc. I didn’t have any candy, but I found some Hot Cocoa and decided I could spare some.

DIY items to add to the Free Friendship Basket

The basket came together quickly and didn’t cost a dime.

DIY Cork Flowers Easter Basket

I was so excited about how the first basket came together, I decided to try my hand and another DIY project and another basket theme.

If you have a supply of wine corks, skewers, and hot glue, you are golden.

Use one cork for the center and add hot glue to attach two rounds of corks to the flower center.

Push the wooden skewer into the center cork and make a cute arrangement in a bottle or vase.

I purchased a couple of these small wreaths or candle rings from Target earlier this year. I don’t need them all, so I decided I would share one. The basket is a thrift store find, and I have some wine on hand.

I added another of my extra moss bunnies, and Ta Da!

I had so much fun creating these two baskets with two different themes.

What are some other themes you could create?

After I finished making these baskets, I began to think of other ideas. The grapevine topiary would have been perfect in the baskets. So many possibilities. I didn’t spend one penny to make these baskets. Every item was something I had previously purchased for myself or had on hand from previous projects.
