What is a Charcuterie Board?

I recently shared how to make individual Charcuterie Boards for an Outdoor Country Garden Dinner Party and shared this definition of Charcuterie Boards.

The Charcuterie Board definition according to Wikipedia is “an appetizer typically served on a wooden board or stone slab that features a selection of preserved foods, especially cured meats or pâtés, as well as cheeses and crackers or bread.”

It’s a great way to provide a variety of foods for entertaining in a decorative manner.

I have made several Charcuterie Boards, including this one with Salami Roses; however, since the holidays are upon us, I decided to share a Charcuterie Board shaped like a Christmas Tree. It’s easy to make and looks too good to eat.

Creative Christmas Entertaining Ideas – Herbs

First, I gathered sprigs of Rosemary to form a base for the meats, cheeses, fruits, and sweets!

This Christmas Charcuterie Board idea is achieved by stripping the excess foliage from each sprig so the rosemary will lay flat on the board.

Add fresh rosemary to Charcuterie Board in the shape of a Christmas Tree as a base.

How To Add Ingredients

Fold the salami twice and press to begin the base of the tree. Lay the first row at the bottom of the tree shape with the round side down, and then add a second row with the rounded side upward.

Then add a row of truffles and sprinkle the salami with mini pickles.

Next, add a row of White Cheddar Cheese cubes and some dried cranberries for some added color. The tree trunk is made from a slice of goat cheese which is placed at the bottom of the tree.

Blueberries, cheddar cheese cubes, mixed nuts, and pomegranate seeds fill in the top of the Christmas Tree. Be sure to mingle the items to avoid any gaps in the tree.

The ingredients can be added in any order that appeals to you.

Finally, add a star to the top of your tree. This could be made with cheese, but I found these cute gingerbread cookies with white icing, which are the perfect topper.

In addition, another creative Christmas Charcuterie Board Idea is to add fresh cranberries to the edges of the tree. They appear to be Christmas Balls on the tree.

Once you are ready to serve, sprinkle it with additional pomegranate seeds for some added sparkle and shine.
