Summer Tableware Ideas
First, when planning any dinner party, I begin by taking an inventory of what I already have on hand. If the table theme needs additional items, I immediately begin checking at thrift stores. If I’m not finding what I need, my next stop is a DIY project, and last but not least, I check Amazon.
Today’s Summer Tableware is a combination of foraged, DIY, Thrifted, and what I already have available. Nothing new was purchased. I hope you love it as much as I do.
Summer Table Decoration Ideas
Let me take you along as I choose the place settings and the centerpiece ideas. I’m using a combination of blues and greens for a soothing summertime table feeling.
The Place Setting
Let’s begin with what I have on hand that works with the inspiration theme. I have thrifted woven placemats similar to the inspired ones. In addition, I decided to use my vintage blue pottery dishes, which I’ve had for over 40 years. I topped them with white salad plates from HomeGoods from a few years ago. Next, I added white and green DIY Fringe Napkins and added a greenery ring topped with my recent DIY White Apples.
With the rustic setting, I wanted a little glam, so I included my acrylic and gold silverware. Blue cut-glass water goblets and clear wine glasses from thrift stores complete the table place settings.
The Centerpiece
The inspiration centerpiece is simple white bowls filled with greenery and white blooms. I wanted to gather some Queen Anne’s Lace to use with the wild ferns from our property. However, the recent rain damaged the blooms, so I added some fresh dill blooms instead.
I used three of my vintage milk glass vases and added two lacey ferns to the smaller containers. Since the table arrangement is in the greenhouse, I added a spritzer and copper watering can for a garden centerpiece vignette.
Budget Summer Table Decorations: Thrift Store Finds
I am always looking for great deals on thrifted tableware. Unique dishes, placemats or plate chargers, silverware, and glassware can be very inexpensive. I occasionally pick up plates or glassware at HomeGoods or other discount shops, but most of my tableware is thrifted.
Thrifted Finds For Summer Table Decorations
Decorating the summer table with unique finds gives it a creative flair. I have used the wine glasses on many of my tablescapes, which are still a favorite find. The blue cut-glass water goblets, which were only $5.00 for a set of six, had never been used and still had the Southern Living stickers on each one.
I passed by the woven plate chargers at a vintage mall in Wilmington. When I got home, I was browsing through a magazine and saw the exact ones featured on a lovely table. Thankfully, they were still there when I rushed back to the store. LOL
In addition, the wooden candlesticks and milkglass vases are inexpensive finds. I have several wooden candlestick holders that I have painted, either black or white, to use on my tablescapes. I also look for vintage brass candlestick holders and use a mix of patterns on many tables.
I hope you enjoyed today’s tablescape ideas.

Rachel, how wonderful to have a greenhouse to be the setting for a lovely tablescape. Your combination of vintage and flea market table elements is perfect for this setting. I would have gone back for the woven placemats, too. Love the touch of blue to compliment the greenery.

Rachel, all those baskets!!! My mother would be proud. ;) She hung all of her baskets from a pot rack which hung over the stovetop at our last family home. I love how they coordinate with those great wooden chargers! Aren't you glad you went back for them? The ferns look lovely, too. Beautiful table!
