Happy Sunday, and welcome to Dirt Road Adventures! This is where we review all the exciting events behind the scenes, on the website, and the sources of inspiration I discovered online during the past week. This weekly recap ensures you don’t miss any of our adventures.
Hey Friends,
It’s hard to believe we are only days away from 2025. What an incredible year we had, thanks to your continued support. On the blog last week, I shared the top reader’s choice awards for decor and DIY projects, so I thought it would be fun to share my favorite behind-the-scenes of 2024 today. So let’s take a look at the year in review.
Table of contents
Travel
We had many treasured moments, and one of my favorites was our visit to New England. It has been on our bucket list for several years and it didn’t disappoint. The highlights of the trip included meeting some of my blogging friends. If you missed my recap of the trip, you can see it at A New England Adventure.
We were enthralled with all the amazing sights.
In addition, I am blessed with many wonderful friends and the fall was filled with several girlfriend trips and many amazing memories were made.
Featured
We feel honored to be featured in each Country Sampler Farmhouse Style Magazine’s quartering issues. It was a highlight of our year. In addition, TW Post recognized our blog as #1 of the 10 Best DIY Home Decor Blogs To Follow In 2024.
Thrifting
Scouring thrift stores for unique finds is always a favorite pastime. Here are two of my favorite thrift store transformations. The outdated lamp goes a Ballard Design Inspired Makeover, and the cute little lamb looks boutique-worthy in the green and white napkin decoupage makeover.
Family Celebrations
We had two major events in our extended family. We celebrated with my sister’s family as her daughter was married at a beautiful ceremony in July. Then, we are looking forward to the birth of our first great-nephew, and we celebrated with a baby shower in December.
Annual Christmas Party and Weekend Celebration
The Christmas season is my favorite so here are some treasured moments around our annual Christmas party and hanging with friends that weekend for Christmas on Sunset, Downtown Asheboro!

There are so many creative ideas, and I’m always asking myself, “Why didn’t I think of that”? LOL
Today, I’m looking back at all the inspiration from 2024, and here are my favorites:
- Missy’s Anthropologie-Inspired Christmas Wreath
- I don’t want to forget to plan a Christmas Wreath Making Party for next year like Jennifer did this past Christmas.
- Stacy’s helpful Lighting Guide For Houseplants gives me hope for keeping indoor plants alive. Maybe! LOL
- I have Mary’s tutorial for using Watercolor Pencils pinned and saved so that I can give it a try.
- Wendy’s DIY Garden Bench made with old doors is my favorite of all the amazing ideas she shared this past year.
- My thrifty friend Ann shared this amazing thrift store trunk restoration.
- I’ve been saving CoCo’s Vintage Bucket label idea and can’t wait to try it this coming year.
