Dirt Road Adventures – Preparing For Fall

Happy Sunday, and welcome to Dirt Road Adventures! This is where we review all the exciting events behind the scenes, on the website, and the sources of inspiration I discovered online during the past week. This weekly recap ensures you don’t miss any of our adventures.

It’s hard to believe, but most of last week was spent preparing for Fall Decorating. Although the days have been hot, I am already seeing a change with cooler mornings and noticing some leaves beginning to drop.

We have had rain almost every day this week, and I told my husband I could feel fall weather coming as we were on our morning walk.

With these thoughts looming, I worked on a few fall projects, did a little vintage/thrift store shopping, and shared some Fall inspiration with you.

Adventures at the End of the Dirt Road

This is a look back at all my adventures this past week.

Have you started any fall decorating? I have not pulled out a single pumpkin, but I have begun storing away some of my summer decor.

It’s been a slow process because I’ll also try to choose some items to sell or donate. If you’ve been around awhile, you know these decisions don’t come easy. I get attached, and I’m always thinking “I might could repurpose that some day”.

So as of today, I have one item in the resale box and several to be packed away for next year.

Do you have trouble letting go of things? Tell me I’m not alone!

Thrifting Adventure

One exciting thing happened, I found a really cool antique store desk at the Habitat ReStore. It was such a great deal, and I had to have it.

However, this means I have to sell the old handcrafted desk and chair that I’ve had in this spot for a few years. I still love it, but look at the cute details on the antique one, and Brad said one has to go.

Such a fun weekend, Rachel! I've been at Loblolly and was helping my Mom go through some things and she had the same "what if I need this and can't find it again when I'm ready" reaction going through her things too. It's hard when you're a collector or a treasure hunter and have so many fabulous pieces. I totally get the pull. Thanks so much for sharing my simple ways to ease into the fall season. It's still crazy hot here but as long as the humidity stays low I'm happy to pretend it's on the way :) Hugs, CoCo

Rachel, Oh that desk from Habitat is such a score! I love it and never think to shop there....The concert in the park also looks like such fun. There is something about listening to music outside that makes is so much more festive. Happy Sunday! Great post.
