Dirt Road Adventures: Hard To Believe It’s Labor Day Weekend

Happy Sunday, and welcome to Dirt Road Adventures: Can You Believe It’s Labor Day Weekend? This is where we review all the exciting events behind the scenes, on the website, and the sources of inspiration I discovered online during the past week. This weekly recap ensures you don’t miss any of our adventures.

Hey friends,

I hope you are having a wonderful Labor Day Weekend! We have been at the beach all week, and it has been so hot! It’s hard to believe that summer is coming to an end.

I’ve been working on my blog to prepare for our upcoming 8-day vacation to New England. We will leave next weekend, flying into Boston and traveling along US Route 1 to Bar Harbour. We have many stops along the way and are looking so forward to this trip. We planned this trip in 2020 and had to cancel due to Covid. It’s taken us this long to get it back on our schedule. Have you ever been? If so, share your favorite stops, restaurants, shops, etc. I don’t want to miss a thing.

Although I’ll be out of town, I have several new blog posts that I’ve been working on, which I’ll share over the next few weeks. So, check in daily to see what I’ve been working on.

CHEERS TO JOAN WE MISS YOU!

Adventures at the End of the Dirt Road

This is a look back at all my adventures this past week.

We had a wonderful time celebrating Labor Day at our annual Hot Dog dinner hosted by our friend and beach neighbor. This year’s event was bittersweet because we were missing our original hostess. Our friend Joan was with us at our 4th of July celebration, but shortly after that, her condition worsened, and she passed away. Joan and her husband started the Hot Dog Dinner tradition many years ago, and we have many happy memories. Joan’s daughter Sandy and her husband have been keeping the tradition alive during her declining health, and we are blessed to have such wonderful friends here at the beach.

It's funny how we also planned a trip in 2020 to Vermont, NH, and Maine and had to postpone until this year. Ann helped us plan it and I can hardly wait to go! We leave the last week in Sept. Hoping it's peak leaf-changing time! It's a bucket list vacation for me. I know you're going to love it. I'm looking forward to some serious antique shopping. I know from Dabbling and Decorating that the antiques are so different from the pieces in TX. Have fun!

Cindy, That is so amazing! Ann and Jennifer from Cottage on Bunker Hill helped me plan my trip. We are leaving tomorrow and can't wait. We will have to compare notes after your trip. Have a great one.

Rachel, I am so sorry to hear about your friend, Joan. How nice that her children are keeping up the tradition as a way to honor her. What a blessing to have such a nice group of friends. I am excited to hear about your trip to New England. I was born and raised in Connecticut and we have been to Boston so many times. There is so much to do there and the history...oh my! Safe travels and can't wait to hear the details. Thank you so much for sharing my post on making pinecone wreaths! You are the best. Happy September...hard to believe.

I leave for the Bar Harbor/Schoodic Point area on Tuesday. Bar harbor is fabulous. You of course have to see Acadia National Park and make a reservation to drive up to the top of Cadillac Mt. to see the first sunrise in the Northeast. Geddys in Bar Harbor has fantastic seafood and Southwest harbor is a fun little town to explore. You will love the area!!
