This past week was filled with budget-friendly DIY projects, from Mother’s Day gift ideas to Dollar Tree projects that wow! If you missed any of the great tutorials, you can catch up today on Dirt Road Adventures.

But we had some not-so-good things happening behind the scenes. Our guest cottage had a burst pipe behind the toilet, flooding the bathroom, kitchen, and part of the living room. The water also filled all the ductwork as well as underneath the house. This caused the insulation to fall and become soaked through.

We vacuumed out at least 100 gallons of water from the floors and ductwork. All the insulation and flooring in the bathroom, kitchen, and living room have to be replaced. Yikes. So far, the insurance seems to be cooperating. I’ll keep you posted.

In addition to all the drama at the guest cottage, I managed to sneak in some vintage shopping. My friend and I left early Thursday morning to be among the first to attend the last French Farmer’s Wife barn sale. I’m so glad we got there early. Everything was on sale because Kathee and Gail are retiring, and this sale was to clear out the barn.

We both got some great deals, and I love everything I have brought home. I’m going to miss these sales.

There are so many creative ideas, and I’m always asking myself, “Why didn’t I think of that”? LOL

• Y’all know I like to save scraps for future projects, and I’m crushing on this DIY Wallpaper Bowl that Missy made with scraps of wallpaper.
• I love unique tableware and can’t wait to try Wendy’s clever Napkin Rings for a Garden Table. They are adorable.
• My friend Lora has another sweet and clever wreath idea. Check out this vintage brooch and feminine hanky wreath.
• If you love collecting vintage silver, you need to check out CoCo’s easy method to remove silverware tarnish.
• I’m slowly adding more and more hydrangeas to our property, and I love Stacy’s tips on growing hydrangeas in pots.

• Have you ever grown chamomile? Me neither, but now I want to. Go check out Mary’s tips for growing and then making tea.

What’s In My Cart

Okay, I’m going to add a few items to my wish list today because Mother’s Day is approaching quickly.

• First, this Sweeper is in the cart and being finalized as we speak. It’s for the beach cottage.
• I’m also ordering two rolls of this cane webbing (also for a Beach Cottage Project)
• Brad is needing this new wheelbarrow to work around the house.
• This quilted bedding is also on my wish list. I love the color.
• These sunglasses look so cool.
• I wouldn’t turn down this crossbody handbag, either. LOL
• I really like this color handbag too.
• Oh, this one is great for summer. (Let’s see which one I get! LOL)
• This dress looks so comfortable.
• However, I need a dressy dress, and I love this black one.
