Happy Sunday, and welcome to Dirt Road Adventures. On Sundays, we review all the exciting events that occurred behind the scenes, on the blog, and the sources of inspiration I discovered online during the past week. This is a weekly summary to ensure you don’t miss any of our adventures.
This past week, we decided to beat the extreme heat and take off to the beach.
However, the heat followed us all the way to the ocean.
We were still able to do our morning walks, but Rudy only made it around the block once, and he was ready for a cool spot.
With all the heat, we decided to head into Wilmington for lunch and to do some vintage and thrift store shopping.
We had some luck at one of our favorite consignment shops, and we found a few new spots to add to our thrifting rounds.
So I’ll share all the details and what treasures I brought home.

Adventures at the End of the Dirt Road
This is a look back at all my adventures this past week.
Since we’ve been at the beach, I managed to convince Brad to do a little vintage and thrift store shopping.
Wilmington, NC, has some great shopping options, and I actually found two new spots this trip. You may remember that I shared this Thrifting with the Gals in Wilmington, NC post.
We started the day at The Ivy Cottage on Market Street. I’ve previously had good luck finding vintage decor at this location.
This trip was no exception.
After a delicious lunch at Indochine, we traveled to The Junky Monkey Thrift Store. It is a hodgepodge of unique finds.
I found a great deal on some porcelain napkin rings, a copper lobster mold, and some Dawn Dish Detergent.
Next, we stumbled across Azalea Antiques and were very impressed with their repurposed furniture and array of great antiques. Although we didn’t purchase anything, I’m ready to go back and explore some more.
Finally, the Island Cottage is a tiny thrift store right on Pleasure Island. We have driven by many times but, for some reason, had never noticed it before.
Although it’s a small shop, it’s packed with great deals. I scored three brass candlesticks to add to my growing collection.
Most of these items will be used at the farmhouse, but the lobster mold will likely remain at the beach cottage.
