Happy Sunday Friends! I’m currently at our beach cottage for a girlfriend getaway and having way too much fun.
This is an annual trip planned each year at the end of August and we are celebrating our 5th year of gathering for much needed laughter and making great memories.
I wanted to share a glimpse into our time together as well as share all things happening last week.
Dirt Road Adventures
Each week on Dirt Road Adventures, I take a look back at all things happening on the blog “in case you missed it”! This past week included a yummy low calorie cocktail recipe, a fun fall basket centerpiece, this mini charcuterie board, a country garden dinner party as well as the full supper club dinner menu. In addition, I found some exciting projects and information around the web that I couldn’t wait to share with you.
Girlfriend Time
But getting back to the girlfriends beach weekend! It began on Thursday with some great food and lots of laughter.
The first evening is dinner at a neighbors house and catching up by reminiscing about all of our previous trips.
I worked so hard getting the cookies together that I forgot to clean the flour off my face. LOL
They were actually store bought from Aldi’s and the flour was just a joke.
However, the rest of the menu was homemade and absolutely delicious.
The next day was filled with a little shopping and naturally included a two hour lunch with more great food at The George, Wilmington, NC.
Although we had a two hour lunch, we still managed to find room for dinner at one of the true gems of Kure Beach, Freddie’s Italian Restaurant.
One of the highlight of the weekend is our Saturday Brunch party hosted by one of my sweet beach girlfriends. This is a priority each year and there may have been a few Bloody Mary’s consumed. There was definitely lots of fun stories and laughter. Many more memories made for sure.
Today we are sad the weekend is coming to an end, however we are planning a last day lunch at Havana’s. This is another favorite restaurant in Carolina Beach that I previously shared with you on Kure Beach Activities and Adventures.
I’m fortunate to be staying and my hubby will be joining me for the Labor Day Weekend. I’m trying to take advantage of these last days of summer and enjoy our remodeled Beach Cottage.
How To Plan A Girlfriend Getaway?
As I’m writing this I’m so thankful for good friends and fun times. It’s very therapeutic to get away from our routines and spend time with friends.
Even if you can’t plan a girlfriend getaway you can still plan time with girlfriends. Here are a few ways to get much needed girlfriend time.
- Plan a girls night out for dinner
- Meet girlfriends for coffee or drinks
- Go to the movies or a play with girlfriends
- Take a class together such as a painting class, cooking class, wine appreciation, etc.
- Put together a game night
- Start a book club
- Host a girlfriend brunch
See more about hosting girlfriend time here.
I’m sure you can think of other ways to spend time with friends and I hope you’ll share your thoughts with me.
This is a look back at all my adventures this past week.
In addition to all the Kure Beach fun, here are a few of the things I shared with you last week.
In Case You Missed It
We started the week with this low calorie tequila cocktail recipe – Ranch Water. If you missed it, be sure to check out this tasty and refreshing drink.
Next, I joined the Pinterest Challenge and created with Basket and Pumpkin Centerpiece for the screened porch. You can see how I managed to use items I already owned to decorate the porch for fall.
In addition, I added individual mini Charcuterie Board Appetizers to each place setting for our monthly Supper Club Dinner Party. The cute individual boards were so fun and easy to make. See how to make the mini salami rosettes and more.
The highlight of the week was our Country Garden Dinner Party. The old farmhouse and surrounding structures made the perfect backdrop for this Supper Club event.
