Welcome To My 2024 Fall Home Tour

I’m glad you are joining me today for my 2024 Fall Home Tour. I’m joining other talented decorators to share our Fall Home Decorations. This year’s tour is hosted by Cindy at County Road 407, and you will see all the amazing tours at the end of my tour. I know you enjoyed seeing how Cindy decorated using last season’s decor.

If this is your first visit to my farmhouse, you will find that I love decorating with a curated, vintage style. I believe you don’t have to spend a fortune to have a stylish and creative home, so on today’s tour, you will see many thrifted and vintage finds. In addition, I’m a DIY junky and love creating decor similar to what you see in high-end boutiques and online shops for a fraction of the cost. Come along as I share this years projects and fall home decor.

Living Room

Let’s begin today’s tour in the living room. From the minute you enter the farmhouse, you will notice an open floor plan that allows you to enjoy a view of the main living areas.

Neutral and Natural Earth Tones With Added Texture

This year’s living room is filled with neutral and natural earth tones. Adding lots of texture is important to keep the space warm and inviting.

The neutral sofa contains burnt orange, beige, and creme seasonal textured pillows. The fuzzy pumpkin pillows, fun pom pom pillow details, and chunky throw blanket create a cozy, inviting spot to sit and relax.

Bring The Outdoors Inside: Budget-Friendly Fall Decor Ideas

One of my favorite fall decorating tips is to create a focal point on the coffee table. This year’s centerpiece is a large scoop basket filled with nature’s bounty. The basket is huge and draws your attention immediately. We are fortunate to have an abundance of acorns, pinecones, nuts, and other goodies that can be easily gathered on our walks. They add texture and creative interest for budget-friendly fall decor ideas.

So, I filled the basket with a large thrifted hurricane lantern and added foraged hickory nuts to surround a flickering candle. The basket is also large enough to hold a trio of dried gourds, pinecones, and flowers for a unique centerpiece arrangement. Using foraged materials is one of the easiest, budget-friendly fall decor ideas.

Insider Tip

When creating a coffee table centerpiece, look for oversized items such as trays, bowls, baskets, or risers that can be filled with your foraged or thrifted decorations. Small items will easily get lost on a large coffee table, so gathering them into larger containers will draw more attention to them and add instant impact.

DIY Filled Mantel

When it came to styling the mantel with fall home decorations, I tried several different combinations that I recently shared with you. This is the first fall with our DIY shabby chic mantel and I played around with several ideas. The winner was this combination of handcrafted primitive rustic pumpkin topiaries, the DIY old book page garland, and thrift store-flipped vases. The antique gold pheasant was also a recent thrifted find. You will be able to find all of these DIY tutorials at the end of this tour.

This corner of the living room is my office space, and I love being surrounded by more vintage treasures from days gone by. The vintage typewriter and the rotary dial phone no longer work but add vintage style while leaving room for my modern laptop and cell phone.

Curated Fall Decorating Tips

The living room is an eclectic mix of old and new, with curated touches that keep the eye moving from space to space. Consider adding thrifted and vintage pieces throughout your home if you want your home decor to stand out from the crowd.

Entry Table Fall Decorating Tips

Although the farmhouse entry is all one space, I reserve the left side of the door for my entry table. This year’s entry includes many budget-friendly fall decor ideas, including thrifted treasures and DIY projects. First, the new-to-me vintage finds include the old store print, the milk glass lamp, and the updated thrift store mirrors.

The DIY craft projects from last year include the Dollar Tree hanging wooden leaves beside the window, the DIY corn husk topiaries, and the pumpkin. This year, I added the DIY Scrap Fabric Sunflower Pillow Cover, the Dollar Tree pumpkin wreath on the barn door, and lastly, the napkin decoupage lampshade makeover. I tried to calculate the value versus investment of this cozy corner without success, but regardless, to me its priceless.

Dining Room

Now, let’s move into the dining area. There are two areas here that immediately get a seasonal update, and fall is my favorite season for tablescapes, centerpieces, and more.

Natures Bounty Dining Table Centerpiece

To create the fall home decorations for the table centerpiece, I gathered several thrifted containers together. A large basket bowl, two dough bowls, and a breadboard are nestled together in the center of the table to create a warm cozy fall feeling.

I filled them with faux apples, plums, pinecones, dried okra pods, wheat stems, and foraged persimmons. In addition, two thrifted candlestick holders and a recently found set of pumpkin salt and pepper shakers, were added to complete the centerpiece.

Insider Tip

Fall decorating tips that will save you the most money are pulled from nature’s bounty. For instant fall home decorations, you can fill bowls with free pinecones, dried pods, flowers, and fresh fruit. This year’s dining table centerpiece is filled with both faux and natural elements.

Thrifted Hanging Plate Wall

Earlier this year, I added a blue and white hanging plate wall behind the dining table. To update the wall with fall home decorations, I traded out the blue and white dishes for fall substitutes. Combining vintage brown transferware dishes and golden wheat plates adds a warm, cozy feel, along with the vintage gathering basket filled with autumn stems.

Trendy Mushroom Place Setting: Fall Decor Tip

I have been drawn to the new, more neutral mushroom fall decor trend. When I saw these dishes by Liz Maries Cozy Cottage, I immediately ordered them. One fall decor tip that will still give your home a curated feel even when you introduce new tableware is to mix the new with vintage. So I added the mushroom dishes over a vintage set of brown transferware plates. They both are placed on woven placemats and I used modern acrylic and gold cutlery for an eclectic feel.

The new mushroom plates inspired a DIY Mushroom wreath that I shared earlier. The wreath, made exclusively from Dollar Tree Supplies, turned out so cute. It adds a touch of whimsey to the dining room’s fall home decorations.

Kitchen

Finally, let’s tour the kitchen, which is literally the heart of our home. I’ll share some cozy fall decorating tips that are easy to duplicate.

Fall Home Decorations for the Heart of the Home

The farmhouse kitchen, with its brick backsplash and chunky open shelves, is full of textures. Copper pots, vintage rolling pins, and ironstone pitchers keep the space cozy year-round, and adding touches of fall decor helps to enhance the warm feeling.

On the bottom shelf, a vintage basket is full of dried stems and a recent thrifted find, golden pears. The top shelf holds vintage gourds shaped like an apple and a pear, while the vintage ironstone pitcher holds a lush fall stem with leaves and berries.

The heart of the kitchen is the DIY center island. Not only is it a great source of storage, but it’s also filled with budget-friendly fall decor ideas.

The area above the kitchen cabinets is also filled with warm wooden and amber pieces. The dried hydrangeas add a touch of rust and blue and draw attention to the large dough bowl.

Insider Tip

Here are some favorite fall decorating tips that you can consider when decorating your home this autumn. Gather your collections of wooden breadboards, cutting boards, trays, and risers. Display them as a base under your fall home decorations and fill them with colorful fruits, flowers, and bottles. The warm wood tones will add instant warmth to your kitchen.

You may remember last fall’s tiered basket, Pottery Barn look-alike project. This year I added it to the kitchen island and filled it with faux pumpkins and artichokes. In addition, the vintage mirrored wooden tray holds a copper kettle and concrete pears. The mirror tray helps to reflect light onto its decorative contents.

Finally, the island’s centerpiece consists of an antique cheese board, vintage amber bottles, and a vintage brass bowl. Dried stems, berries, grapevines, and DIY paper pumpkins complete the rustic vignette.

Although the island is filled with many fall home decorations, there is still plenty of work space and dining space available.

In Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed these budget-friendly fall decorating tips. If you want to create a curated, cozy feeling in your home, these fall decor tips will be a great starting point. You can look to your local thrift stores to add inexpensive pieces for your centerpieces and other vignette around your home. Now is the time more people are donating their old fall decorations and you can pick up items for a fraction of their original price. Remember to mix old and new for an eclectic mix that will make your home unqiue and interesting. Happy decorating!
