5 Ideas for a Creative Table

I love planning and putting together tablescapes for all occasions but especially for Christmas. The more creative and unique the better.

Here are five ideas for Creative Christmas Table Decor. See unique ideas, DIY, and thrifted items come together for a unique table setting.

The Screened Porch Creative Christmas Table Decor Ideas

Each season the DIY light fixture becomes part of the tablescape because I can’t resist hanging some festive decor in the glass jars. Here, I used flocked twigs & pinecones along with some red birds.

Step 1 – For A Creative Table

First, determine if you want a bare table, table cloth, table runner, etc. Then start to build your table.

Here, I’ve used red craft paper as a table runner. In addition, I’ve added faux greenery stems along the center of the table. You can use natural greenery for this step if you prefer.

Then add this DIY Coffee Filter Garland over the greenery. This garland costs pennies, and it’s so easy to make. This would be perfect for so many different occasions.

Using one of a kind, unique piece is the first step toward a creative table setting.

Step 2 – Add Place Settings

For this next step, I used wooden chargers that are not chargers but wooden trays that I found a few years ago at Hobby Lobby.

The Santa Christmas plates are a recent find from HomeGoods.

Step 3 – Be Creative With Your Cutlery

Today, the cutlery is antique pewter set from Barenthal, and I’ve used a simple greenery wire tie to wrap the napkin and cutlery together for a casual table.

Step 4 – Use Creative DIY Touches

Because this is a Christmas Tablescape, I used some mini Christmas Trees and recycled wine corks as placeholders.

How to make DIY Placeholders

• Mini Bottle Brush Christmas Trees – 8 for $1.00 at Dollar Tree
• Recycle Wine Corks – Free
• Red & White Baker’s String
• Sharpie

Step 5 – Use Thrift Items For a Unique Table

Finally, don’t feel you have to spend a fortune to create a beautiful table for the any occasion. Here, I’ve used thrift store candle sticks and wine glasses. Most of the items inside the cabinet are thrift store or flea market finds, including the cabinet itself.

Evening is my favorite time to be on the porch, especially at the holidays.

The grapevine garland is filled with twinkle lights year round.
