2024 Screen Porch Christmas Tour
The screen porch is a favorite outdoor spot during the holidays. It has a cozy seating area and a dining area. For today’s tour, I’m sharing outdoor Christmas decorating ideas and how to update your spaces with budget-friendly tips. Several ideas include DIY projects, which I will link at the end of each section for you to explore.
The porch is usually filled with reds and white at Christmas. However, this year, I added touches of blue for an updated look.
2024 Christmas Home Tours
Today’s porch tours are part of the 2024 Christmas Home Tours hosted by Cindy at County Road 407. If you are joining me from Cecilia at My Thrift Store Addiction, I know you enjoyed her lovely nostalgic charm Christmas home tour. Don’t miss all the other inspiring home tours listed at the end of my porch tours.
Porch Christmas Dining Table
The dining table in the outdoor screened porch is rustic yet elegant. I used these fun Casafina Deer Friends dinner plates with blue placemats. Vintage silverware and elegant glassware complement the charming dishes.
The table is filled with reds and whites, along with blues and greens, for a festive tablescape that sets the tone for this years outdoor Christmas decorations.
Next, I wanted a unique centerpiece, so I removed the DIY glass terrarium from its stand and filled it with rustic deer, pinecones, and greenery. The cute deer face peeks out of the glass structure that you’d never guess was an easy-to-make Dollar Tree craft.
The light fixtures hanging glass vases are filled with simple boxwood clipping from our landscape to complete the table setting.
Depending on the design of your light fixture, you can add evergreen garlands, foraged pinecones and more for outdoor Christmas decorating ideas. See the greenhouse chandelier draped with large pinecones below.
How To Add Pinecones To Chandelier
You can forage for large pinecones. I picked these up along the roadside at the beach. To hang them from the chandelier, I added eye hooks to the base of the cone and then added a green ribbon to tie them on. I then added a smaller red ribbon to hide the hook.
Screen Porch Serving Tables
Okay, let’s get back to the screen porch. A vintage metal icebox that holds an old flower box sits next to the dining table. The flower box has been repurposed as a place rack, and the icebox makes a good beverage and dessert station.
In addition, the baker’s rack holds a festive display of thrifted and DIY projects. The scrap wood village is updated for Christmas with a small boxwood wreath.
Budget-Friendly Outdoor Christmas Decoration Ideas
I shop at thrift stores first when looking for outdoor Christmas decoration ideas. Items exposed to the outdoor elements can quickly become damaged with mildew and moisture spots. Therefore, you don’t to invest in expensive decor for these areas.
Look for inexpensive art, lamps, and rustic containers to mix with your vintage Christmas decorations. With a little creativity, you can create amazing displays on a dime.
The needlepoint and cross-stitch pieces were so inexpensive but worked so well for outdoor Christmas ideas. The bird lamp and rusty paper dispenser were also inexpensive thrifted finds.
Outdoor Christmas Decorating Ideas For Seating Area
This year, the seating area has been updated with a new rug, coffee table centerpiece, and some additional tree ornaments. The new rug introduced more blue tones, so I added a blue throw blanket along with the red one and red and white plaid pillow covers with touches of blue. The neutral outdoor seat cushions are easily transformed for any season with the addition of colorful blankets and pillow covers.
Insider Tip
Instead of spending a fortune on holiday pillows, invest in good-quality pillow inserts and replace the covers to save money on your outdoor Christmas decoration ideas. You can buy inexpensive pillow covers or make your own for seasonal decorating. Quickly remove the pillow covers for easy storage at the end of the holiday season. You save on storage space and the cost of expensive pillows.
Budget Christmas Decor
One of my favorite additions to the porch is the DIY Advent Wreath. It adds such a warm glow to the outdoor space. In addition, the shiplap wood tree is filled with DIY ticking fabric ornaments that your recently saw on 5 Easy Boutique Style Dollar Tree Christmas Ornaments.
For this year’s tree, I wanted to add some blue ornaments. Instead of buying new ornaments or making them, I used some Napkin Decoupage Balls I made last winter for a Chinoiserie tablescape. I had used them in a decorative bowl all summer, so all they needed was a hanger. I used some small eye hooks to screw into the styrofoam balls and a drop of hot glue to ensure it was secure.
Then, I added a red velvet ribbon to tie them onto the shiplap tree.
To continue the rustic reindeer theme on the screen porch, I filled planters and baskets with reindeer, pinecones, and natural greenery clippings from our property.

Farmhouse Front Porch Christmas Tour
Let’s move to the front porch for more outdoor Christmas decorating ideas. This outdoor space also has two main areas for decorating—the front door entry area and the seating area next to the bedroom doors. Rudy loves to get involved with outdoor photo shoots. LOL
Front Door Entry
This year the front door entry is a mix of old, new, and repurposed. Last year’s snowy winter wonderland has been transformed into an evergreen festive Christmas entry.
DIY Evergreen Christmas Trees for Planters
I recently shared the DIY Boxwood and Magnolia evergreen Christmas tree tutorial. The trees are topped with easy-to-make gold metal bow tree toppers and look lovely, filling the DIY faux galvanized planters beside the French doors.
A few additional trees surround the planters, and last year, reindeer are ready to guest our holiday guests.
Two evergreen garlands are draped for the French doors. I decided to update them this year by adding some gold jingle bells.
The touches of gold on the garland and greenery trees, replace the snowy details from last year.
Front Porch Seating Area Outdoor Christmas Ideas
The next area we updated with outdoor Christmas ideas is the front porch seating area. The first upate was the new rug that matches our front door rug. I have been wanting this rug for some time. It’s neutral so it will work for all seasons. The combination of red, white, and blue continues in the seating area. Comfortable seat cushions, throw blankets, and pillows help to create a cozy spot to enjoy the Christmas lights.
The coffee table centerpiece is created with a large red enamelware bowl filled with a rustic birdhouse and surrounded by natural greenery, berries, and pinecones. A fun fabric snowman cozies up on the porch swing with red and white buffalo plaid pillow covers and snowy blanket.
More natural greenery fills a thrifted wall basket while the vintage cabinet holds a collection of thrifted finds.
