Supper Club Series
Today’s tablescape is part of our monthly Supper Club Series.
If you are joining us for the first time, we are a group of friends who love to entertain, and when entertaining in person wasn’t recommended, we started a virtual supper club in January 2021.
We are from different areas of the country, and it’s always fun to see each person’s interpretation of the monthly theme. Meet the Supper Club Hosts.
- Michele, Vintage Home Designs from Texas
- Jennifer, Midwest Life & Style from Nebraska
- Anne & AnnMarie, Simply 2 Mom’s from North Carolina
- I’m also from North Carolina.
We are excited to have the talented Missy from Sonata Home Design as our guest host this month.
How To Host A Game Night Party
If you love to play games, having a game night party at your home can be so much fun. To plan a party, consider your guest list before deciding what games to play. Make a guest list of like-minded individuals for a successful night of game-playing. Set a date and send out the invites.
Hosting Tips
- Set the mood by decorating your table with creative and clever game memorabilia.
- Keep games simple and fun, allowing for conversation.
- Encourage participation by handing out game instructions and game pieces as guests arrive.
- Be relaxed and flexible. If guests mingle more than participate, don’t worry; go with the flow.
Game Night Essentials
To host a successful game night, you need to consider the following:
- Snacks and Drinks that are easy to consume while playing games.
- Games and supplies. Ensure that everyone comes prepared to play if they need to bring money, cards, etc.
- Background music to set the mood.
How To Set Up A Game Night Party Table
To set up a game night party table, begin with items you already own: old game boards, cards, dice, poker chips, etc. Pull it all out to help decorate for your party.
I added a large game board to the center of the table instead of using a tablecloth. Then I scattered some cards, dice, and poker chips around the top of it. For the centerpiece, I made DIY Dice from old boxes and stacked them on cake stands.
DIY Game Night Party Decorations
You can easily make some DIY game night decorations. These oversized dice are made with boxes wrapped in white kraft paper. You can start saving your square boxes or cut down a box to make it square. I had an oblong box that I cut into two pieces to make the smaller square dice. It doesn’t matter if one side is hollow.
Use something round to draw the dice onto the boxes and paint them with black craft paint.
I elevated the DIY dice on a couple of milk glass cake stands to create a centerpiece. To brighten the centerpiece, I added some vases with fresh-cut flowers from the garden.
After you have your centerpiece and game table decorations, tuck in your serving platters filled with easy-to-pick-up appetizers. I add the DIY Cheese Markers to the cheese tray to add a touch of fall to the game night table.
More Creative Touches
Since dice are the primary table theme, I added a few to the hanging vases on the light fixture, along with other game pieces and poker chips.
The side table and other areas around it hold old game boards, creating a game room feel throughout the area.
Another fun thing I found was these reusable stainless steel frozen dice. I added them to the cocktail glasses to help keep cocktail beverages cold. The cocktail for the evening was a Lemon Drop martini with homemade limoncello. I’ll be sharing the full menu and recipes with you on Saturday.
The Fun Game Night Party Table Decorations
The fun table has easy-to-serve snacks and cocktails so guests can easily snack and mingle between games.
As usual, I didn’t want to spend money creating the Game Night Party decorations, so I looked for simple items I already owned. The only new purchase was the stainless steel dice, which will be used for many gatherings.
In Conclusion
Game nights are a great excuse to gather friends for fun and fellowship. To ensure a successful party, keep the games, food, and beverages easy and relaxed. It’s all about having fun and making memories.

Be relaxed and be flexible is the best advice ever! So many of us are so up tight and want things to be perfect. I suffered from that for years and probably missed out on a lot. Your table is party perfect! Makes me want to do something more fun at our game nights here at home. Thanks for the inspo!

Cindy, Yes I've learned the hard way that people are easily distracted and everyone isn't always into the game planning. If you aren't careful, you'll be very upset with your guests.
