Happy Sunday, and welcome to Dirt Road Adventures: Water Damage Update and more! This is where we review all the exciting events behind the scenes, on the website, and the sources of inspiration I discovered online during the past week. This weekly recap ensures you don’t miss any of our adventures.
Hey, I’m so glad you stopped by today. We have been busy refreshing our front porch and all around the pool this week.
It was finally warm enough to enjoy the pool by the end of the week.
We are also working to get our guest cottage back together. If you remember, we had water damage over a month ago. It’s amazing how long everything takes.
A company came in and ripped out the insulation, half of our walls, and flooring, plus basically gutted the bathroom. There was a lot of damage that we felt was unnecessary. Fortunately, the insurance pays for most of the damage and repairs.
However, instead of allowing this same company to come back and profit from the damage they caused, we have decided to do the repairs ourselves. I’ll be taking you along as we replace the bathroom tile and vanity, repair the walls in the bedroom and bathroom, and replace all the flooring.
Here’s a sneak peek at what it looks like now. Notice the broken tile up the shower wall. Why???
They removed the flooring and wall in the bedroom. We can’t detect any water damage here, so again, why?
I could go on and on and bore you with everything they did wrong, but instead, let’s look at what was happening on the blog last week.

Goodmorning Rachel I’m really hoping that your upcoming trip to New England will reach New Hampshire. My friend an I visited an antique shop(so reasonably priced) in Stratham. We both got some great pieces. It’s called the Collectors Eye and it’s in Stratham NH. I just know by your collections, you would love it. Try looking it up. Thanks once again for sharing your ideas. I’ve used a few more. Have a wonderful day. Patty

Hi Rachel! Wow, those contractors certainly did a number on your guest cottage. And after you were already dealing with water damage. I have no doubt, though, that you will make it even cuter than ever! I love those pinecone flowers you make. And the placemats are so fun! Thanks so much for sharing my lampshade post! Have a great week!
