Budget Friendly DIY Rug Tutorial

Purchase A Pre-cut Linoleum Vinyl Floor Covering at A Home Improvement Store.

Roll the vinyl flooring wrong side out for Approx. 24 hours before beginning The project.

Use Wax Paper or other protective barrier to protective THE floor or table used for THE project.

Paint backside of the vinyl flooring with Chalk Paint or Exterior Paint.

1-2 coats should be sufficient.  Allow drying for 24 hours before continuing.

Adding painters tape before paint is dry isn't recommended.

Plan Your Design

Measure the width of the decorative roller if you plan to use it.  .

Use Measurements to mark off sections of the vinyl rug where painters tape will be applied.  

Add painter's tape to marked areas.  

Measure for PLACEMENT of stencils also

Gather Paint colors, stencil brushes & Paper Towels to blot. 

Stencil with your choice of colors.  

It may be necessary to move your stencil from place to place on rug.  Allow drying time between moves.  

Paint light blue color  with A SPonge Roller between the tape lines.

Prepare Dark Blue Paint by flatting IT on a protected pallet.  

Add Paint to the decorative roller & apply around THE outer edge of THE rug.   

Remove Tape to Reveal New Rug
