Are you ready for a chili cook-off? As part of this month’s supper club, I’m sharing my chili cook-off decorations and table-setting ideas.
For this table theme, I wanted to keep things simple and rustic. I pulled out all my pottery dishes and thrift store finds to create a relaxed, fun tablescape.
So welcome to this month’s Chili Cook-off Table!
Today’s tablescape is part of our monthly Supper Club Series.
If you are joining us for the first time, we are a group of friends who love to entertain, and when entertaining in person wasn’t recommended, we started a virtual supper club in January 2021.
We are from different areas of the country, and it’s always fun to see each person’s interpretation of the monthly theme. Meet the Supper Club Hosts.
- Michele, Vintage Home Designs from Texas
- Jennifer, Midwest Life & Style from Nebraska
- Anne & AnnMarie, Simply 2 Mom’s from North Carolina
- I’m also from North Carolina.
We are excited to have the talented Missy from Sonata Home Design as our guest host this month.
We invite a guest to host each month, and I’m so excited to have Regina at Saved From Salvage with us for February.
If you are joining me from Simply 2 Moms, I’m glad you stopped by. I know you loved their creative party ideas.

What To Use For Chili Cook-off Decorations?
First, I didn’t want to spend any money, so I shopped my home for Chili Cook-off Decorations.
I began with my stash of thrifted tableware and then pulled from items I’ve had for years.
Keeping with a rustic tablescape theme, I pulled out antique pie plates and these fun cordon bleu baking tins I found at a thrift store.
The soup bowls are vintage French porcelain. They were a great find, and I love their unique shape.
The Place Setting
Layer, layer, layer is my motto for an interesting place setting.
First, I added the thrifted navy placemat and the wooden charger. The chargers were purchased in a Hobby Lobby a few years ago and are actually wooden trays. However, they work perfectly for holding my treasured pottery dishes.
Then the vintage pottery dishes from Seagrove Pottery add the perfect rustic vibe to the table setting. I purchased those the first year we were married and still love the texture and color.
A thrift wicker tray holds a vintage pie tin and helps to add more texture to the place setting.
Finally, I added the cordon bleu tins and topped the place setting off with the white porcelain soup bowls.
Handwoven napkins, pewter cutlery, and thrifted water goblets complete the rustic chili cook-off decorations.
Chili Cook-off Scrabble Tiles
Another idea was to use scrabble tiles to identify the different chili recipes.
I used the tiles as part of the table setting as well as the centerpiece.
I shared this Crock Pot Chili Recipe earlier this week and will share all the chili recipes with you on Saturday.
Rustic Table Centerpiece
Because I wanted to keep the table simple, I only used a few items to create the chili cook-off table centerpiece.
I began with two long and narrow vintage breadboards stacked in the middle of the table.
Do you remember seeing this silver urn on Dirt Road Adventures? It was a lucky Thrift Store find for only $5.00.
It certainly looks better since I shined it up.
I decided it would be a perfect centerpiece because it looks somewhat like a trophy.
It is filled with foraged twigs, and forced forsythia blooms gathered from our front yard.
It’s so easy to force blooms in winter for early Spring flowers.
The addition of the scribble tiles and salt and pepper shakers completes the chili cook-off centerpiece decorations.
Additional Tablescape Details
Another addition to the table is the vintage soup tureen.
The simple white ironstone tureen will be filled with chili for the supper club dinner.
I enjoyed setting the table with all my vintage and thrift store finds.
