You will be amazed at how easy it is to make a Spice Rack DIY Copper Craft Project. I love how this budget-friendly DIY Spice Rack adds a warm French Farmhouse feel to the kitchen.
Why are we building a spice rack, you may ask?
Well, it all began when I found a collection of vintage spice bottles at the thrift store. You know one thing leads to another!
They were so cool, and I wanted to display them.
But not just any spice rack would do! No!
You see, the spice bottle came with copper caps!
Do you see where this is going?

Why Build a Copper Spice Rack?
I quickly washed and filled all the bottles with my spices.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have a good place to display them, so I put them on the pantry shelves.
It was a shame to hide this great vintage find behind the pantry door.
Therefore, the idea to make a copper spice rack was born.
So after careful measuring, off to the home improvement store we went.
Copper Pot Hanging Rack
If you remember, we recently added a copper pot hanging rack over our kitchen sink. It made such an impact on the overall feel of the kitchen.
I felt that this project would be just as successful.

Supplies for DIY Spice Rack
It was easy to buy the supplies for this copper craft. The plumbing department had everything we needed.
The supplies cost less than $50.00, and we had some pipe and a couple of elbows left over.
- 12 feet of 1/2 inch copper pipe.
- 6 – 1/2 inch T connectors
- 2 – 1/2 inch elbow connectors
- Pipe Cutter
- 2 – 1/2 inch Pipe Clamps for attaching underneath the cabinet.
- Command Strip Tape
- Cordless Drill
How To Make A DIY Spice Rack with Copper Pipe
Making the DIY Spice Rack with Copper was a reasonably straightforward process.
Due to our limited space, we wanted something other than a free-standing rack. A built-in rack would take up less space.
We decided to attach the spice rack to the backsplash behind our stove.
In addition, we wanted to avoid drilling holes in the backsplash.
Therefore, it will be attached underneath the upper cabinets.
The hardest part was determining what length to cut the copper pipe.
I’ve included my dimensions. However, your size will vary.
Cutting The Pipe For A Copper Craft
Carefully measure the area before cutting the pipe.
Using 1/2-inch materials, each connection will add 1/2 inch to the pipe length.
As you can see, each side piece has 3 T connectors. Therefore, to achieve a 19-inch height when completed, we began with a 17 1/2-inch pipe.
Determine where you want the connectors installed and cut the pipe at that location.
We added one pipe at the bottom for the bottles to sit upon and another closer to the top to add measuring cups.
In addition, to the two horizontal bars going across the rack, you will want another pipe to run in front of the spice bottles.
You’ll need to add an elbow attachment to the center T connector to get this done.
Add the third horizontal pipe to the elbows, providing security for the spice bottles.
Secure the DIY Spice Rack to Cabinet
Align the DIY Spice Rack against your backsplash and attach the pipe to the cabinet molding with a 1/2-inch pipe clamp.
You should drill a pilot hole in the molding before adding the screw to prevent the wood from cracking.
Secure Base Of Spice Rack
Once again, we didn’t want to damage the concrete countertops by attaching the pipe with screws.
Therefore, we added a piece of command strip tape between the bottom of the pipe and the countertop.
The Spice Rack DIY Copper Craft feels secure and only took approximately one hour to complete.
The vintage spice bottles look great displayed against the backsplash. With the addition of brass S hooks, the upper bar is perfect for holding vintage copper measuring cups.
The kitchen has a warm French farmhouse feel with the addition of all the copper craft projects.
