What Ingredients are in a Low Country Boil Recipe?
Planning the ingredients for Low Country Boil Steamer Pot depends on what ingredients you want to include and how many people will attend your party.
Most all boils include Shrimp, Potatoes, Onion, Corn on the Cob and Sausages.
Options include Crab Legs, Clams, Oysters and Mussels.
How To Cook A Low Country Boil?
For todays recipe for a low country boil, I’m going to assume the number of people is eight.
You will want to fill your stock pot with enough water to cover all the ingredients.
Begin with 2-3 Lemons cut in half and a bag of Zatarain’s Crab Boil
Next add your potatoes and onions to the water. Allow 2-3 small potatoes per person and approx. 3 onions quartered. Cut larger potatoes in half.
Once water is boiling, cook for 15 minutes
Next, add the kielbasa sausages cut into approx. 1 1/2 inch pieces. Allow approx. 2 full sausages for 8 people.
Allow the sausage to cook for approx. 5 minutes
Now add the corn to the boiling water. Allow for one ear of corn per person broken in half.
Continue to allow the pot to boil with corn for another 10 minutes
Finally, add the frozen shrimp and we usually allow 1/4 pound of shrimp per person.
Boil for another 3-5 minutes or until they turn pink.
We like to use easy peel frozen shrimp because they are already deveined and are easy to peel and eat.
Note: if using fresh shrimp, allow to boil approx. 1 minute and check to see if pink.
Dump The Low Country Boil
Carefully dump your steam pot and allow liquid to drain.
Allow each person to fill their plate and enjoy!
