Hey Friends it’s time for Thrifting with Gals monthly Blog Hop. This is where we share our best ideas for Decorating and Shopping for Vintage or Thrifted Items.
Today I’m sharing my Top 10 Thrift Store Shopping Deals and Tips for 2021. I have had some great finds and each one is a treasured piece of my decor.
I’m sharing my favorite finds and how I’ve used them in my decor this year.
Thrifting with the Gals
Joining me today is our Thrifting with the Gals crew, Ann from Dabbling and Decorating and Kristin from White Arrows Home.
Ann has a beautiful home in Vermont but is also renovating her coastal Maine home. She loves to share her thrifting adventures between both Vermont and Maine. Ann and I joke about how much we love the same vintage style and often find that we have similar items from our thrifting excursions.
Kristin is from the Northwoods of Wisconsin and has a beautiful lake home. Kristin’s thrifting adventures include her inspiring vintage retail shop in Wisconsin. Kristen’s home is filled with vintage lake inspired pieces and her collections are to die for.
If you joining me from Kristin’s Holiday Entertaining with Vintage Thrifted Finds, welcome!
Top Thrift Store Shopping Deals #10
It’s hard to rank this years thrift store shopping deals because I actually love them all or I wouldn’t have purchased them. But I’ll try to save the best for last.
Coming in at # 10 is this vintage tray with a mirrored bottom. I found it just in time for my Thanksgiving table. It’s such a unique piece and will be used in many areas of the house.
The tray made another appearance on this Simple Christmas Tablescape
Tableware # 9 Tip
I’m always on the look out for unique tableware and this gorgeous tablecloth really caught my eye. It’s a perfect match for the crochet table cloth that I found last year.
I used this combination on my Promise of Spring Tablescape last February. It is a great neutral piece that will work with various tablescapes.
I have one tip when thrifting for table cloths. Don’t worry if there are a few spots.
Determine if you can disguise the spots with proper tableware placement. Many spots can be removed, but you’ll not know until you are home.
If the damage is more than you can disguise, pass!
Thrift Store Dishes # 8
When I updated the Master Bedroom for Spring, I added touches of blue and needed decorative plates to add to a platter I have had for years.
When I found this plate for only 99 cents it quickly became one of the 5 Easy Bedroom Ideas for Spring.
# 7 Thrifted Wooden FRuit Baskets
When I spied these wooden fruit baskets I knew I had to have them. They were perfect for our Inspired Summer Picnic Setting by the pool. I have used them multiple times over the summer.
Thrift Store Score Board # 6
Another favorite thing to do with Thrift Store finds is to repurpose them. Here is a cheap wooden TV Tray holder that we repurposed into a Corn Hole Score Board.
We have enjoyed using the scoreboard with family and friends.
Wooden pieces at thrift store Tip!
Hard wood is so expensive so if you find something cheap take a second look. You may be able to use the wood for another project such as this.
Thrift Store Tableware # 5
This was one of my favorite tablescapes of 2021.
I found the tablecloth and napkins at a flea market and the dishes at ReStore for only 50 cents each.
They look like they were made to go together and it created a perfect Galentines Brunch Table.
A Yard Sale Find becomes a headboard # 4
This great yard sale shutter became the perfect headboard solution for our guest cottage tiny bedroom.
Flea Market Flip # 3
After searching for several months, this flea market find received a 3 Step Furniture Makeover to become the perfect bedside table.
We discovered that the manufacturer is the same as the bed. No wonder it looks great here.
In addition to the new cabinet I updated our bedding with this vintage inspired bedspread from Piper Classics. The matching pillow cases, pillow shams and floral euro pillows really give the room a romantic, vintage feel.
Earthenware Thrift Store Lamp
After drooling over a few Pottery Barn Lamps, I decided to attempt an Easy Thrifted Lamp Makeover.
The lamp was only $5.00 at Goodwill and now it looks as good as those expensive ones from Pottery Barn.
My best tip is to look for a lamp that appears to be in good condition and is the shape of the lamp you’ve been drooling over.
Don’t worry about the lamp shade or the color. That can all be fixed.
# 1 Best Thrift Store Find & Shopping tip
When I spotted this chippy cabinet for only $35.00, I couldn’t get the tag off quickly enough. LOL. When you see a find, it’s best to remove the tag.
I’ve learned that lesson the hard way. Don’t walk away without the tag.
I have seen similar cabinets for much, much more and therefore because of the great deal, I consider this my best find of 2021.
It’s a perfect addition to our outdoor Kitchen with the vintage refrigerator and old cook stove.
The chippy color begs for some vintage inspired Christmas decor and Rudy as a model. LOL
I hope you enjoyed taking a look back at this year finds.
Don’t leave yet, because up next is Ann at Dabbling and Decorating with her Top 12 Finds of the Year.
