Must-Have Christmas Crafts
OK! Maybe I’m a little dramatic and obsessed about DIY for Christmas but y’all, I’m serious about the most magical time of the year.
There are so many great DIY Christmas craft ideas, and I want to do them all. Yikes!!! I can’t wait to share them all with you.
I also shared How to Prepare for Christmas Decorating Now. That post helps you determine what Christmas Craft Supplies you’ll need for the holidays and ensure you get all the really cool stuff.
Some Favorites Craft Ideas From Seasons Past
First, I’ll share a few projects that you may enjoy making this year.
DIY Christmas Ornaments
I love using Dollar Tree Supplies for as many projects as possible. Here are two Christmas ornaments using Dollar Tree ornaments. Both are easy and inexpensive to make. Be sure to grab those Dollar Tree Supplies early, as they sell out quickly. Click below for the full tutorials.
- Upcycle Old Books With Big Christmas Ornaments from Dollar Tree
- Easy DIY Hobnail Milk Glass Ornaments with Dollar Tree Supplies
- Supplies needed for both projects- Dollar Tree Large Christmas Balls

Christmas Craft Topiaries
Christmas Craft Supplies For Topiaries
These projects are enhanced with foraged twigs, pinecones, and cedar. The twig topiary is painted white with chalk paint.
You also need to know How to Dry Fruit for your holiday projects!
Easy Ticking Christmas Stockings – See Tutorial for a NO-Sew Version
Red Stripe Ticking Fabric – This is my go-to fabric for Christmas, Memorial Day, 4th of July, etc. Here are just a few projects you can make. You’ll also need some wooden beads for the tassels; you can see how to make the tassels in this tutorial.
Easy to Flock Christmas Trees
Adding faux snow is one easy way to add winter charm to your existing Christmas decorations and foraged supplies.
Light Weight Spackling is necessary to add snow to almost any Christmas Decor. It looks great on bottle brush trees, existing Christmas trees, pinecones, foraged twigs, and more. See how to flock to everything for Christmas.
Dried Fruit and Herb Garland
Gather your dried fruit, fresh herbs, and a few ornaments like these wooden snowflakes, Wooden Beads, and brass ornaments to construct a unique and creative Christmas Garland.
You only need a few additional supplies, including Jute Rope and Jute Twine. I use these items all year long, but wow, they are perfect for this garland project.
One of my favorite DIY Christmas Craft ideas from last winter was these DIY Paper Bag Snowflakes. I just ordered these white bags to make some more for this year.
Paper Bag Snowflakes
These easy-to-make snowflakes are so fun. All you need is paper bags and scissors. Brown bags are easy to find, but I found these white bags on Amazon.
You can see how to make and use the white paper bag snowflakes on a banister Christmas Garland.
The snowflakes were attached with the large jute rope, and large metal bells enhanced the banister garland.
Air Dry Clay Ornaments
Another fun and easy Christmas Craft Idea is to make air-dry clay ornaments. These can be used as ornaments, place cards on table settings, or package toppers.
Christmas Craft Supplies needed:
- Air Dry Clay
- Cookie Cutters – various shapes can be used to create many designs.
- Holly Leaf
- I like this one too.
- Letter Stamps
- Ribbon
- Stain or Dark Wax

DIY Felt Christmas Trees and Christmas Craft Supplies
These felt trees are so fun and easy to make. They are a great Christmas craft idea for young and old.
I found these felt sheets in adored colors and these that are sold by the yard. These wooden bases are also great if you don’t cut your own. You can forage for the wooden bases and twigs for the tree trunks.
You will need a hot glue gun to complete your trees with this easy step-by-step tutorial.

One more thing: after reading your wonderful Christmas blogs last year, I decided to "go small" with our trees this holiday season (I put up 4 to 5). 😉 I did find an adorable, easy to assemble small flocked tree on Amazon. Not sure if it's okay to post the actual link, but it's called, "Northlight Angel Pine Cones Christmas Tree, 4 ft, Green".
