I’m completely smitten with anything Copper this fall. I decided to make some Plaster Fall Leaves and paint them Copper. Here’s what I’m doing with them.

Once your plaster leaves are dry, you are ready to create these easy projects.

In addition to the fall wreath, I added this technique to decorate my light fixture for fall.

Fall Leaf Wreath Materials

How To Make Hanging DIY Fall Leaves

First, gather your leaves and match similar sizes and shapes. Using wire snips, cut several pieces of your wire approx. 20 inches long.

Note: If you are making a larger wreath, you will want to cut the wire longer

Make several hanging leaves by adding wire with hot glue.

Once you have several matching sets, use your hot glue gun to add a piece of wire to the center of each leaf. Be sure to attach it to the back side of the leaf. You only need one wire between each set of leaves.

Once the wire is secure, place the matching leaves together and secure them with hot glue. The wire will be between the two leaves.

Continue to place leaves together until you have enough for your project. I made 12 sets of leaves for my wreath.

You should separate a couple of your plaster leaves to use later.

Gather your leaves by the wire and let them hang at varying lengths, with the longest being slightly longer than your wreath. I used a small 10-inch wreath.

Once you are happy with the arrangement, begin wrapping the wire around the grapevine wreath. With all the wires together, wrap in one area of the wreath.

Continue to wrap until the wires are all secured.

Make sure you are happy with the length and arrangement of the leaves, and add a drop of hot glue to secure the wire and keep it from slipping.

Finishing Touches To Fall Wreath

In order to conceal the wires, add a couple of your larger plaster leaves to your fall wreath.

Position the leaves over the exposed wire and use hot glue to secure in place.

Hanging Fall Leaf Lighting

I was so happy with the fall wreath that I decided to make more plaster leaves for my screened porch light fixture. I used the same method as above and attached the leaves at varying lengths above the table using wire.

You can see how these leaves look here on my Fall Harvest Table.
