What Is The Difference In Antique Bedroom Decor and Vintage?
Generally, Antique decor is over 100 years old, while vintage decor is over 50 years old.
You will see many items listed as vintage that are less than 50 years old. However, don’t get hung up on the distinction between the two.
You will find that all older furniture and decor have a special charm and uniqueness that you don’t see as often in new items.
Mixing and matching your vintage, antique, thrifted, and new items will create a curated style that’s sure to impress.

Antique & Vintage Bedroom Decor
Mixing old and new items will give your home a curated decor style. Choose to decorate with authentic antique bedroom decor or vintage finds whenever possible.
Knowing the story behind unique pieces is what makes them special.
For example, this treasured antique clock is a reminder of the wonderful holidays my husband spent at his Grandmother’s house.
It’s a perfect addition to the guest bedroom decor.

Unique Vintage Bedroom Decor Ideas & Budget Bedroom Decor Inspiration
Using antique and vintage-inspired decor works well in a modern farmhouse style, cottage style, and traditional homes.
Therefore, I’m always looking out for unique items that can be used to decorate the farmhouse. When you decorate with authentic vintage decor, you create a style that is hard to duplicate because each item is unique.
This vintage decor inspiration will help you create a unique vintage bedroom style. Plus, these budget vintage bedroom decor ideas will save you money.
Simple Thrift Store Finds
First, y’all know I love thrift store finds. Although many items are not vintage, they are all unique to me.
You can add a tray to your guest room bed and fill it with special items for your guests to enjoy.
The thrifted tray holds vintage books and a DIY aged clay pot filled with Angel Vine. They create a vignette to enhance the bed and welcome your guests.
You don’t have to spend a lot of money when you decorate with thrifted decor. The most expensive item in this vignette is the plant.
Shopping in thrift stores is a budget-friendly way to add stylish decor to your home.
More vintage finds can be found at the bedside.
First, I love collecting vintage stools. They make perfect plant stands and small side tables. A favorite thrift store primitive stool serves as a small side table filled with a vintage bowl filled with plants and books.
The antique bedroom chair is repurposed, using drop cloth fabric with a DIY feed sack design.
In addition, the side table holds another repurposed chest made from an old thrifted silverware box. The box is a cheap trash-to-treasure project for holding stationary or other trinkets.
Layer to Make Small Decor Shine
When you have smaller decor pieces, adding layers of vintage is a great way to add vintage inspiration.
Above the bed hangs a vintage bird print I inherited from my aunt. To make the print stand out, it hangs over a vintage ceiling tile purchased while thrifting in Wilmington, NC.
It was left over from the project over our front doors. You may remember I saw some similar things while Thrifting with the Gals in Wilmington last week.
Another vintage budget bedroom idea is to use your family treasures to create unique spaces in your home. The three bird prints were inherited from my favorite aunt and are a pleasant reminder of spending time in her home.
Here is another example of layering vintage decor ideas highlighting smaller pieces.
First, the vintage print was a great thrift store purchase for only $1.00. I know; I still can’t believe it.
You can layer the small print over a vintage shutter to give it impact or stack it in front of a vintage window.
Combining the shutter with an old window and architectural pieces makes the color combination perfect for the vintage-inspired bedroom.
Add More Layers With Antique & Vintage Bedroom Inspiration
Do you remember the black and white ticking bedspread seen here?
I have used it on this bed for several seasons.
However, instead of replacing the bedspread, it is covered and serves as a bed skirt for an antique quilt.
It’s evident that beds were smaller in our grandparent’s time, and the heirloom quilt needed a bed ruffle to work. You can make antiques work in the bedroom with a few modern additions.
In addition, the DIY Scrap Fabric Pillow Cover was inspired by the shades of pink & yellow found in the quilt.
Repurposed & Budget Vintage Bedroom Decor Ideas
The repurposed gun cabinet is a vintage handmade piece filled with family photos and vintage linens.
My dad built the gun cabinet many years ago. When no one else in the family wanted this outdated gun cabinet, I knew a coat of paint and shelving would make it a treasured piece for the guest bedroom.
In addition, several thrift store vintage milk glass vases are filled with faux tulips. They help to brighten the room with pops of pink.
Inherited Decor – Mixing Old and New
The antique iron bed, quilt, trunk, and clock are all inherited family pieces we are blessed to display. Mixing Antique bedroom ideas with newer items helps to add to the curated modern farmhouse style.
Combining your unique vintage pieces in one room can create a cohesive retro feel.
Although it’s new, the neutral rug from Boutique Rugs is a perfect backdrop for the ever-changing color choices in the guest room.
The vintage window screens were an inexpensive thrifting find and added a perfect backdrop for the new pendant lights on either side of the bed. These budget vintage decor ideas add a unique creative style to the bedroom.
Adding the hanging lights allows more space on the bedside tables for vintage displays.
I hope these 9 Antique & Vintage Bedroom Inspiration ideas will encourage you to use your inherited and vintage decor to create a unique curated style within your home.

I recently remodeled/redecorated my entire home....using my strong intuition and fav soft pinks, teals, greens and whites. Every room re wallpapered, new teal mermaid tail backsplash, floral love seats at either end of my dining table. I ordered 6 chairs from Chair Whimsey. Large dinette has oversized sofa with velvet soft green chairs and distressed walnut pie shaped island has blush velvet stools. A peacock chase sofa faces an Anthro CURVED sofa with Bergere chairs in pinks/teals. For whimsey, I have a slipper chair in a deer print. My bedroom had cream wallpaper w/ watercolor magnolia blossoms in pinks, greens and lace/rose border. Chandeliers everywhere. All bedrooms have velvet love seats at foot of beds, new everything. Mackenzie reindeer in every room for whimsey. Gold accents mix with brass elements . I get raves for my maximalist, glam, cottage, coastal, eclectic approach and entertain so much more.
