Today I’m sharing my favorite 7 Thrift Store Furniture Makeovers and how to transform these thrifty finds from trash to treasure.
It’s time for Thrifting with the Gals, where we share all about decorating with Vintage and thrifted Decor.
In addition, my thrifting friends Ann from Dabbling and Decorating and Kristin at White Arrows Home are sharing great ideas and tips. Best sure to link to their blog post at the end of my post.
Best Thrift Store Furniture Makeovers
How to Build a Farmhouse Kitchen Island is still my favorite and most challenging furniture makeover. We combined a previously rescued sideboard and a more recent thrift store find to build a kitchen island for our new farmhouse.
Here you can see both furniture pieces that make up two sides of the 6′ by 7′ island.
Industrial pipes and a barn wood-style top complete the furniture makeover. See more details about how we built our island here. You can also see how to make new wood look like old barn wood here.
You can also see how I recently updated the DIY Island with a fresh coat of paint on The Miracle of Chalk Paint Wax.
Easiest Thrift Store Makeovers
Chalk Paint Makeover for Vintage Furniture was such an easy makeover. Using Chalk Paint to transform a thrift store find is super easy, and you can see how simple this chest was to refinish here.
3 Step Furniture Makeover – Flea Market Flip is another simple furniture makeover. So quick and easy to transform this chest from boring to wow!
See more information on How to Use Chalk Paint here.
This was such a simple project because the chest was in great shape. The drawers were freshened with dark wax, and the exterior was painted with Old White Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan.
Greenhouse Apothecary Cabinet
Who doesn’t love a cabinet with little drawers? Well, this IKEA hack was the perfect addition to our DIY Greenhouse. This was originally a 16-cube storage unit. See all the details, including what this piece looked like before, on DIY Faux Apothecary Cabinet – Card File Chest.
I love an Industrial Farmhouse Makeover.
AMAZING FURNITURE TRANSFORMATION BEFORE & AFTER is one of most recent makeovers.
This chest was such a great deal for only $27.00 at a consignment shop. I originally just painted this piece white and lived with it for a year.
Then inspiration struck and you can see how this transformation of accomplished here.
This is another early industrial furniture makeover – #1 Industrial Farmhouse Transformation.
Another example of my love for little drawers.
In addition, I repurposed an old silverware box on this trash-to-treasure post.
