With just a few inexpensive thrift store finds and a quick stop at Dollar Tree, I transformed the fall porch for less than $10.00. These quick Halloween outdoor ornaments can be easily removed once Halloween is over, and your fall porch will return to its former glory. Rudy is excited to show you what we did.

Outdoor Halloween Home Decor Ideas

I don’t usually decorate for Halloween. We are a mile off the beaten path, and little ghosts and goblins never venture down our dirt road. However, a spooky idea sparked my mind this year while I was out thrifting.

I was inspired to create fun Halloween porch decorations when I spied these four cute cornucopias at the thrift store. I knew they would make the cutest witches’ hats for my pumpkins. They cost less than $1.00 each and were easily transformed into witches’ hats with a quick coat of black spray paint.

No Crave Pumpkin Jack O’Llanterns: Idea # 2

Next, I decided to take the easy route with Jack O’Llanterns, and instead of craving, I painted them. To add a Jack O’Llantern face, draw your design with a Sharpie pen and then fill in with black craft paint.

After painting the faces, add the DIY witch hat and place it in a planter or on your porch. Once Halloween is over, remove the hats and turn the pumpkins around so the face doesn’t show. You can use the same pumpkins until Thanksgiving is over.

Dollar Tree Halloween Supplies

Next, I picked up a few supplies from Dollar Tree. Here’s what I used.

  • Large Fuzzy Spiders(2 in a package)
  • Plastic spiders (6 in a package)
  • Package of Bats
  • Package of Eyeballs
  • Skelton Hands

Now, I was ready to transform the Fall front porch with Halloween decorations. For my third idea, I began with a cheesecloth table runner draped over the doorway. I used a command hook and the light fixtures to hold it up. Then, I added the plastic spiders by pushing their legs into the cheesecloth open weave.

My fourth simple idea was adding fuzzy spiders and clip-on bats to my Fall wreaths.

The porch planters are filled with faux fall leaves and ferns. I added one of the three painted Jack O’Llantern pumpkins and the cornucopia witches’ hats to each planter. Then, I added the third pumpkin to a vintage black stool beside one of the planters.

The fifth idea for adding a spooky look is the googly eyeballs. I decided to add them to the fall mums. Combined with a few more spiders and skeleton hands, they will make you look twice.

Halloween Porch Decorations

In addition to the Dollar Tree supplies and DIY projects, I have a few Halloween outdoor ornaments I’ve had for years. The wooden black cat Jack O’Llantern and the ghost are from my tole painting days in the mid 1980’s. I only have a few of my pieces and wish I’d saved more. They are great for adding a cottage-core aesthetic to your home decor.

I also found this “The Witch Is In” pillow, and since it is appropriate every year, I decided to add it to the porch rocker.

What do you think? It’s not bad for a quickly pulled-together spooky Halloween porch that costs less than $10.00.

The eyeballs in the planters are so fun! I might have to try and recreate that before the trick or treaters come next week. I am having my carpets cleaned later today but I am going to run to the store after that for the supplies!
