Cozy Large Front Porch Ideas
Do you have a large porch? If so, there are a few other considerations when decorating a larger porch for any season.
In addition to the decor items needed to decorate a porch for fall, you need to establish focal points and cozy seating areas within your space.
The front porch swing is the focal point for our large porch seating area. I’m sharing views from several seasons of fall decorating, and you can see the links for each fall porch at the end of this post.
The space is filled with many fall ideas for the front porch. Whether it is filled with warm and cozy rusts and browns or a neutral white pumpkin approach to fall, it’s always a favorite spot for porch sitting.
Although the decor changes each fall, the must-have farmhouse style remains. Cozy textiles include rugs, throw blankets, and fall throw pillows.
The lighted corn stalk garland adds the perfect canopy for the porch swing. You can see the details on How to Make A Fall Garland with Corn Stalks tutorial.
Add Cozy Seating Areas
Another smaller seating area is established in the middle of the porch. This area includes two comfy rockers with a side table between them. The space is perfect for a cozy conversation while watching the sun disappear behind the mountain.
The rockers can be easily pulled to the larger seating area next to the swing for a larger gathering.
Main Focal Point on Large Front Porch
The main focal point of the large front porch is the french doors.
The doors are flanked by two wreath-filled shutters and topped with a DIY Address Sign.
Corn stalks and husk fill the porch with a rustic country chic fall ambiance.
A more recent porch view reveals updated DIY Door Shutters, Tall DIY Faux Galvanized Planters, and a Autumn Leaf Rug, and Bunny Tail Boxwood Wreaths from Plow and Hearth for Fall. For more details about the DIY projects or to shop Plow and Hearth, click on the highlighted links.
Fall Ideas for Front Porch – Wreaths
I enjoy having wreaths next to my front doors year round but especially for Autumn. The organic textures of grapevine, bunny tails and boxwood are ideal for fall decorating.
Wreaths on a front door add a welcoming touch that invited guests to enter.
Think outside the box when decorating with wreaths. Use them to anchor or enhance other decor.
A grapevine wreath surround one of the adorable bird statues from Hearth and Plow and a wheat straw wreath serves as a base for a white pumpkin on the porch coffee table.
Garland – Large Front Porch Ideas
Adding garlands around the front doors or on a porch swing create another cozy fall porch feeling.
The oak leaf garland from Plow and Hearth lighted and adds such great style the doorway.
When you add twinkle light, the warm ambiance is immediately increased. The corn stalk garland is enhance by the warm lights.
Planters for Fall Decorating
Planter’s, planter’s and more planter’s is what I say. The tall DIY Faux Galvanized planters have been a favorite since we added them to the porch.
However, I love old wash tubs, basket, fruit crates, old boxes, and buckets filled with mums and fall foliage also.
Pumpkins for Farmhouse Front Porch Ideas
Adding pumpkins to your farmhouse front porch decor is an obvious way to up the farmhouse style.
Are you a real pumpkin fan? I love them anyway they come and I regularly mix fake pumpkins with real ones to keep people guessing.
Don’t forget to tuck a few other fall accessories around the porch. Add acorns, dried flowers, nuts, and pinecones to side and coffee tables.
The primitive cabinet holds many thrifted treasures that were cheap and I don’t worry about moisture damage.
Cozy Textiles – Rugs, Pillows and Throw Blankets
Nothing beat curling up on the porch with a cozy blanket as the temperatures drop in the evening.
Provide you guests with easy to grab blankets, and comfy pillows to encourage porch sitting.
I love the cozy colors in the striped throw blanket.
Decorative fall pillows also help to enhance your fall decor. The hand hooked Pheasant Pillow and Woodland Pinecone Pillow are new this season from Plow and Hearth.
A great rug helps to anchor seating areas and provides a great welcome mat for your entry doors.
In addition, they provide color, texture and a cozy vibe for your outdoor areas.
